This past week, Judge Vince Chhabria heard expert witness testimony, as part of a Daubert hearing, for Plaintiffs and Defendant, Monsanto to review scientific evidence linking Roundup’s key chemical, glyphosate, to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Courts use a Daubert hearing to determine whether an expert’s opinion will be heard at trial. Oral arguments are set to begin March 14, 2018. Judge Chhabria will then decide whether there is evidence to support Plaintiffs’ claims and if the expert witnesses will be allowed to testify at trial.

Hundreds of cases are consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California before the Judge Chhabria for farmers, landscapers, and other injured Plaintiffs. Additionally, cases are filed in courts across the country. Plaintiffs’ lawsuits assert that Monsanto’s Roundup causes cancer and that Monsanto was aware of the dangers of Roundup and deliberately covered up the dangers.
