Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Replacement Recall Lawsuit
According to the Stryker hip recall notice issued in July 2012, the Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems are prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction, which puts recipients at risk of pain, swelling, and adverse local tissue reactions. All patients affected by the Stryker Rejuvenate recall have been advised to undergo metal ion blood testing and imaging screenings, even if they are not experiencing problems with their hip.
According to a Case List posted on the Court’s website on April 22nd, 145 Stryker hip replacement recall lawsuits have been filed in the New Jersey litigation. Court filings also indicate that Stryker has been named in at least 30 Stryker Rejuvenate hip implant recall lawsuits in federal courts throughout the country. The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) is scheduled to hear Oral Arguments on May 30th regarding the establishment of a multidistrict litigation in a single federal court for all federally-filed Stryker Rejuvenate hip replacement lawsuits. According to court documents, venues being considered by the Panel include the District of Minnesota, which has already seen more Stryker hip implant lawsuit filings than any other federal court.
