The Firm is now evaluating potential Aleve lawsuits, Motrin IB lawsuits, Advil lawsuits and Celebrex lawsuits on behalf of consumers who experienced a heart attack or stroke that may be related to their use of prescription or over-the-counter NSAIDs.

NSAIDs are used by 29 million people every year to relieve pain and fever associated with headaches, cold, flu, menstrual cramps, arthritis, and muscle strain. Name brand NSAIDs include Aleve, Motrin IB, Advil and Celebrex. The drugs are also sold under their generic names, including ibuprofen, naproxen sodium and celecoxib.

On July 9, 2015, the FDA requested that cardiovascular warnings on prescription and over-the-counter NSAIDs be strengthened to state that they can cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, including myocardial infarction (heart attack) and stroke, either of which can be fatal. The agency noted that NSAID labels had previously contained information on a possible heart attack and stroke risk. But following a recently completed review of study and clinical trial data, it appears that the FDA is concerned that the previous information was not adequate.

According to the FDA, the risk of heart attack or stroke can occur as early as the first weeks of using an NSAID, and may increase with longer use and higher doses. Patients treated with NSAIDs after a first heart attack were more likely to die within the first year compared to patients who were not exposed after a first heart attack. Taking NSAIDs could also impact the effectiveness of low-dose aspirin in preventing heart attacks and strokes. Finally, the FDA said that the use of NSAIDs may also increase the risk of heart failure.

NSAID Lawsuit Claims Involving Celebrex, Aleve, Motrin or Advil
