The firm is currently investigating hernia mesh injuries reportedly from Ethicon Physiomesh Flexible Composite Hernia Mesh. Multiple Physiomesh lawsuits have been filed since Ethicon Inc. voluntarily withdrew from the market in May after an analysis found higher failure rate and revision surgeries associated with the product. Patients who have been seriously injured after undergoing a minimally invasive hernia repair using Ethicon’s Physiomesh Flexible Composite Hernia Mesh have legal options available to them, including pursuing a legal claim for compensation.

The firm has spoken with numerous men and women inquiring about hernia mesh lawsuits and believe that after receiving Ethicon’s Physiomesh Flexible Composite Hernia Mesh they have experienced infection, pain, bleeding, and revision surgeries. In addition to these and other specific purported injuries, Physiomesh lawsuits filing with the courts claim that Ethicon’s flexible composite mesh is defective.

“Patients continue to report having to undergo additional surgeries, increased medical bills and impairment of their daily activities that allegedly stem from having an Ethicon Physiomesh Flexible Composite Mesh implant,” says Wright & Schulte LLC.

In May, Ethicon sent a letter to health care providers announcing its plan to withdraw its Physiomesh Flexible Composite Mesh after reviewing an analysis of unpublished data from a German registry and Danish hernia database. The analysis showed higher rates of hernia recurrence and additional surgery with the flexible composite mesh compared to similar hernia mesh devices. While Ethicon believes the higher rates are due to multiple factors, the company said in its letter that the “increased rate cannot be fully determined at this time.” Since Ethicon has not been able to give instructions to surgeons that might lead to a reduction in the rate of hernia recurrence, the company decided to withdraw the device from the market.

Court records show that Ethicon Physiomesh lawsuits are being filed on behalf of patients who allege that the Physiomesh Flexible Composite Mesh is defective and causes patients to suffer injuries after the implant. One lawsuit involved a Florida woman who had an Ethicon Physiomesh implant in May 2014 to repair of an incisional hernia. According to the complaint, the woman had complications caused by the hernia mesh, including persistent abdominal pain and bowel obstruction. She underwent another surgery in July 2015. While the surgery took two hours, the doctor could not remove all of the hernia mesh because of its adhesion to the bowels and the abdominal wall. The plaintiff claims she will continue to suffer pain and medical complications for the remainder of her life.
