DuPont C8 Lawsuits Timeline

April 8, 2013: More than two dozen C8 lawsuits alleging personal injury and wrongful death due to C8 pollution from the DuPont Washington Works Plant are consolidated in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. The multidistrict litigation will serve as the venue for all pending and future C8 lawsuits filed against DuPont. (In Re: E.I. October 2012: The C8 Science Panel reports that it has established a probable link between C8 exposure and a number of disorders, including testicular and kidney cancers, pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia), thyroid disease, high cholesterol and inflammatory bowel disease. 2005: DuPont reaches a C8 class action lawsuit that will benefit 70,000 West Virginia and Ohio residents living and working near the Washington Works plant who were exposed to C8 tainted drinking water. Among other things, the agreement establishes the C8 Science Panel to explore “probable links” between C8 exposure and diseases. The settlement also stipulates that anyone exposed to C8 tainted drinking water for at least a year prior to December 3, 2004 will have the right to file an individual claim against DuPont if they developed any “probable link” disease identified by the Panel.
